Editor for Industrial Info (Galway, Ireland)–The U.K. government has introduced new 50% tariffs on steel imports in an effort to protect its struggling steel industry. The government’s Steel Strategy outlines a number of key measures, including that steel import quotas will be reduced by 60% with higher tariffs of 50% for any steel outside of the new quotas.
