Jeremy Monga: Swansea City to sign Manchester City winger as Leo Walta to leave

Monga is a product of Leicester City’s academy and made his senior debut for the Foxes as a 15-year-old during the 2024-25 campaign.

He featured 30 times for Leicester in the Championship last season before signing a five-year deal with Man City earlier this summer.

During his time at Leicester, Monga became the youngest goal scorer in the Championship when he netted in his side’s 2-1 defeat by Preston North End in August last year.

Upon completing the signing of Monga earlier this summer, City director of football Hugo Viana hailed the teenager as an “exciting player” and added he has “already made huge strides in his young career”.

The England Under-19 international is now set to spend the remainder of the current campaign on loan with Vitor Matos’ side.

The Swans have already bolstered their wide options with the additions of Elijah Just, Moussa Yeo and Joseph Opoku this summer.

Walta joined on an initial loan deal from Swedish outfit Sirius in February – a switch that was made permanent by the Swans earlier this summer.

His sole league appearance this season came as a late substitute in Swansea’s opening day 2-1 win at Stoke City – although he also came off the bench in his side’s 1-0 EFL Cup first round loss to Birmingham City.

The 23-year-old made 10 league appearances for Swansea in the latter stages of the 2025-26 season and scored his only goal for the club in a 3-1 victory over Charlton Athletic on the final day of the campaign.
