Delhi-NCR and several parts of northern India are likely to experience light rainfall, cloudy skies and strong winds over the next few days as weather conditions change amid the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued rainfall alerts for 14 states, warning of heavy showers in several regions due to cyclonic activity associated with the retreating monsoon.
Heavy rainfall is expected over the next three days, particularly in Uttarakhand, Bihar and Jharkhand, while West Bengal and other eastern states are likely to experience unsettled weather over the next three to four days.
Southern states, including Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, along with Puducherry and Karaikal, are also expected to receive heavy rainfall between October 9 and 11.
According to the IMD forecast, Delhi, Punjab and Haryana are likely to witness cloudy skies and light rain until October 14. Western and eastern Uttar Pradesh may receive rainfall between October 9 and 11, while eastern Rajasthan is expected to experience light showers on October 12.
Delhi-NCR may witness light rain accompanied by strong winds on October 10 and 11, while strong winds are also forecast for western Rajasthan on October 11.
In the Himalayan region, Uttarakhand is likely to receive heavy rainfall until October 14. The IMD has issued heavy rain alerts for several districts, including Pithoragarh, Chamoli and Rudraprayag.
Pilgrims undertaking the Char Dham Yatra, particularly those travelling to Kedarnath and Badrinath, have been advised to remain vigilant amid the possibility of adverse weather conditions.
Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are likely to experience heavy rainfall on October 9 and 10, and again on October 13 and 14.
Thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds are also forecast in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, including Doda, Pulwama, Anantnag, Poonch, Udhampur and Srinagar.
In Himachal Pradesh, rainfall is expected in Chamba, Kullu, Manali and Shimla on October 13 and 14.
Meanwhile, Bihar and Jharkhand are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall in several areas until October 11. Thunderstorms and lightning are possible in Patna, Ranchi and Dhanbad, while heavy rainfall warnings have also been issued for parts of Bihar and Gangetic West Bengal.
In the northeastern region, rainfall is expected to continue across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram and Tripura until October 14.
Eastern Madhya Pradesh may receive rainfall until October 11, while Chhattisgarh is likely to witness showers on October 14. Districts including Rewa, Satna and Shahdol may experience rain accompanied by winds reaching speeds of up to 50 kmph.
