Family cat rescued from Cumbrian fell after going missing

When the group reached the road they started to flag down cars.

Whelan-Smith said: “Lo and behold, the second car we flagged down, not only knew somebody with a missing cat, they had their telephone number as well – astonishing.”

Strange said she had been in the middle of preparing Halloween activities when she received the call to let her know the missing moggy had been found.

“I had cat ears on which I’m not sure was appropriate,” she said.

Along with her husband and her three children, Strange jumped in the car and headed to the scene to retrieve the wandering cat.

She is now considering putting up a sign close to her home with the moseying mouser’s mugshot to warn walkers of his escapades.

“We did consider a tracker but they’re quite pricey,” she said.

“He hasn’t roamed yet, but there’s time isn’t there?”
