There is also major disruption on the railways, external, with trains between Scarborough, Bridlington and Hull affected, according to Northern Rail.
Trains between Sheffield and Lincoln are also subject to delays or cancellations.
A Northern spokesperson said: “Given the extent of disruption caused by Storm Boelo today we are strongly recommending people avoid travelling.
“Colleagues are working around the clock to reinstate services as quickly as possible, however with weather conditions quickly changing, customers are advised to check our website or National Rail Enquiries for the latest information including for travel plans tomorrow.”
Customers can use tickets from Sunday to travel on Monday or Tuesday instead, the spokesperson added.
A number of flights have also been cancelled, including more than 20 from Leeds Bradford.
The unsettled weather is set to continue into the start of the week, although conditions should be less severe than those seen across the country since Friday.
However, the weather looks set to improve later this week, with drier and calmer weather offering a respite from the recent run of storms.
