Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold bilateral talks with his Polish counterpart, Donald Tusk, on Thursday, focusing on strengthening cooperation in defence, trade, emerging technologies and other strategic sectors.
The two leaders are also expected to exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, including the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and India-European Union relations.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is scheduled to call on the visiting Polish Prime Minister later in the day.
The discussions are expected to cover defence manufacturing, trade, emerging technologies, space research and renewable energy, alongside regional and global security developments.
Tusk arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday evening for a three-day official visit aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation and strengthening the India-Poland Strategic Partnership.
He was received at the airport by Minister of State for Food Processing Industries and Jal Shakti Raj Bhushan Choudhary.
Welcoming the Polish leader, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a post on X that the visit would provide fresh impetus to the India-Poland Strategic Partnership and further strengthen longstanding ties between the two countries.
Tusk is accompanied by Poland’s Minister of Finance and Economy, Andrzej Domanski, and a high-level business delegation.
Besides holding diplomatic engagements in New Delhi, the Polish delegation is scheduled to participate in business forums in the national capital and Bengaluru.
According to the MEA, this is Tusk’s second visit to India as Polish Prime Minister, following his first visit during his previous tenure in 2010.
The two leaders last met in 2024 during PM Modi’s visit to Warsaw, when India and Poland elevated their bilateral relationship to a Strategic Partnership.
Following his engagements in New Delhi, Tusk will travel to Bengaluru to interact with business representatives, particularly from the information technology and space sectors.
India-Poland Business Forums are scheduled to be held in New Delhi on October 22 and Bengaluru on October 23, providing opportunities to explore investment prospects and expand commercial cooperation between the two countries.
