The Army Commanders’ Conference, the Indian Army’s apex-level biannual forum, commenced in New Delhi on Wednesday and will continue until 23 October. Chaired by the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), the conference will focus on the evolving security environment, operational preparedness, capability development and future-ready transformation initiatives.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will address the conference. The Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of the Naval Staff and the Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, will also deliver talks on contemporary security-related issues, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Defence.
A key highlight will be the release of the Land Warfare Doctrine by the Defence Minister. The doctrine will provide an overarching framework to prepare the Indian Army for the evolving character of warfare and the challenges of future conflicts.
The Raksha Mantri will also unveil the annual United Nations Journal and felicitate Army personnel for their notable contributions as United Nations peacekeepers, recognising their exemplary service, professionalism and role in advancing international peace and security.
Recognising excellence in environmental sustainability, resource management and aviation safety, the COAS will confer awards for Green Military Stations and Aviation Flight Safety.
The conference will provide a platform for the Army’s senior leadership to review ongoing initiatives, identify future priorities and formulate policy directions to build a progressive, adaptive, technologically enabled and future-ready force.
