Basildon man’s dying wish fulfilled as he meets Highland cow

Lucas runs Highland Hideout in Basildon, but her cows also graze in Norsey Woods and Hannakins Farm in Billericay, as well as Wat Tyler Country Park in Pitsea.

The 40-year-old said she made it her “mission” to get Margaret to Christopher Cooksey, who is on palliative care in bed.

“That is something I just never thought in my wildest dreams that I would ever do,” she added.

Lucas said it was “the most amazing moment” to see Christopher Cooksey give her cow a kiss.

Helen Cooksey praised Lucas for moving “heaven and earth” to make the request happen, which was kept as a surprise until the hooves walked through the front door.

“People are so, so kind and it was one of the most amazing precious memories that we’re going to have,” she said.
