A schoolgirl who was stabbed by a masked fellow pupil at school described how she told a teacher “Sir, I’ve been stabbed” after the attack.
Police were called to Thorpe St Andrew School, near Norwich, on 11 March, following reports that a 15-year-old girl had been stabbed in the back.
The defendant, who is now 16 and cannot be named for legal reasons, has denied a charge of attempted murder, but has admitted possessing a kitchen knife without lawful authority and wounding with intent.
In a police interview played to the jury at King’s Lynn Crown Court, the girl said she had been in “panic mode” and felt numb and weak.
Describing the attack, which took place in a corridor, she said she had seen a masked person dressed “head to toe in black, no school uniform whatsoever”.
The boy did not say anything to her and she did not recognise him, she added.
She said she turned away and it “felt like he touched me on the shoulder, then it felt like he punched me”.
She said she “didn’t know I was stabbed at this point” but after turning into a classroom, “I went ‘Sir, I’ve been stabbed.'”
The girl said the school lockdown bell sounded and staff gave first aid.
Of the incident itself, she said that once she had opened the door, “I felt sharp pain shooting through my back, I went like that and it was blood all over my hands”.
She said in the interview, carried out days after the incident: “I don’t think it’s hit me properly yet.
“It’s just a bit of a shock.”
