The Houthis claimed fresh missile attacks on Saudi Arabia on Thursday, targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Najran Airport and an airbase in Khamis Mushait. The Houthis also reportedly warned workers to stay away from Saudi oil facilities and airports – that they consider as potential targets.
Saudi Arabia’s coalition said its air defences intercepted and destroyed three ballistic missiles — two targeting Riyadh and one Khamis Mushait.
They also stressed that these attacks will not go unpunished. The attacks have disrupted international air travel, with several airlines, including Air India, Indigo and Akasa temporarily suspending flights to Riyadh. King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi Capital urged passengers to check their flight status with airlines before travelling to the airport.
The UAE, Jordan, Egypt, Kuwait and Bahrain condemned the Houthi attacks on Saudi airports. In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said these attacks constitute a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed the UAE’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
