Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated Dharmveer Chaudhary, Manu TS, Jay Kumar and Vishal TK, Pooja and Gulveer Singh on their bronze-medal winning performances at the Asian Games 2026, lauding their determination, consistency and historic achievements.
The Prime Minister congratulated Dharmveer Chaudhary, Manu TS, Jay Kumar and Vishal TK on winning the bronze medal in the men’s 4x400m relay, praising their timing and expressing hope that their success would contribute to the popularity of athletics.
The Indian quartet clocked 3:01.61 to finish third at the Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium in Nagoya on Tuesday. Japan won gold in 3:00.75, while Qatar took silver in 3:00.93.

PM Modi also congratulated Pooja on winning bronze in the women’s high jump, describing it as India’s first medal in the event at the Asian Games in over two decades.
Pooja, India’s national record-holder, cleared 1.84m to finish third in the women’s high jump final. Uzbekistan’s Sayfullaeva won gold with a personal best of 1.90m, while Kazakhstan’s Kristina Ovchinnikova took silver with 1.87m.
In a post on X, the PMO said:

The Prime Minister also congratulated Gulveer Singh on winning bronze in the men’s 5000m, describing his performance as a remarkable hat-trick of podium finishes at the Games.
Gulveer clocked 13:32.75 to finish third in the 5000m final, adding the bronze to the silver medals he had won in the 10,000m and 1500m events earlier in the Games.
His third medal also made him the first Indian athlete in 40 years to win three medals at a single edition of the Asian Games, after former athlete and current Indian Olympic Association chief P.T. Usha won four medals at the 1986 Seoul Asian Games.
