PM Modi attends ‘Bhajan Clubbing’ programme in Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday attended a ‘Bhajan Clubbing’ programme at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Park, organised to mark the 110th birth anniversary of Bharatiya Jana Sangh leader Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.

The Jana Sangh is the precursor to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

PM Modi was seated among the attendees, listening to devotional songs and clapping along with the performers. He also interacted with members of the audience.

“Bhajan Clubbing in Delhi. Spectacular!” PM Modi said in a post on X.

The event drew a large gathering of devotees, including young people and cultural enthusiasts, and featured devotional music presented in a contemporary concert format.

The programme included live renditions of bhajans dedicated to Lord Ram, Lord Krishna and other Hindu deities, accompanied by modern lighting, sound systems and stage production.

‘Bhajan Clubbing’ has emerged as a contemporary format that combines traditional bhajans, kirtans and devotional chants with the ambience and production elements of live music concerts.

Such events typically feature professional stage design, dynamic lighting, amplified sound and contemporary musical arrangements while retaining the devotional character of the performances.

The format has evolved from smaller youth-led gatherings into organised public events, particularly in major cities. Social media platforms have also contributed to its growing visibility, with organisers increasingly incorporating elaborate production elements.

The trend has gained particular traction among Gen Z audiences. PM Modi had earlier spoken positively about the format, describing it as a meeting point of spirituality and modernity.

Earlier on Friday, PM Modi paid tribute to Upadhyaya and highlighted his philosophy of ‘Antyodaya’, which emphasises the upliftment of the most disadvantaged sections of society.

The Prime Minister described Upadhyaya’s ideas as a continuing source of inspiration for public welfare and nation-building.
