Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended Diwali greetings to people across the country, wishing them happiness, peace and prosperity.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister wrote, “Diwali wishes to everyone! Boundless Diwali wishes to my family members across the country.”
On Saturday, PM Modi shared a video message in which he described Diwali as a festival symbolising the country’s resolve against darkness. He wished people happiness, peace and prosperity, saying the entire country was illuminated with lights on the occasion.
The Prime Minister also reiterated his tradition of celebrating Diwali with security personnel, saying he would continue to spend the festival with jawans this year as well.
“Like you, I celebrate Diwali with great enthusiasm, and as you know, it has become a tradition for me to spend this day among our jawans, a practice I will continue this year as well,” he said.
Earlier, PM Modi met Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan and exchanged Diwali greetings.
The five-day Diwali celebrations began with Dhanteras on November 6, followed by Choti Diwali on November 7. The main festival, along with Lakshmi Puja, is being celebrated on November 8. Govardhan Puja will be observed on November 9, followed by Bhai Dooj on November 10.
