Two Gloucester schools in lockdown and boy in hospital

Armed police are searching for a male armed with a blade as two schools are in lockdown and a boy is in hospital.

Gloucestershire Police said it was called shortly after 08:50 GMT to a report of an altercation on Chalford Road, near to St Peter’s High School in Tuffley.

Armed officers are now searching for those involved who fled the area, police said. The force said one boy had been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

St Peter’s High School and nearby Willow Primary Academy are locked down and officers asked parents not to attend. A police spokesperson said there was “no ongoing threat at the school” and pupils were safe within the school grounds.
