The UAE’s Sharjah emirate has temporarily closed its beaches as a precaution after an oil spill from a tanker threatened to cause marine pollution, authorities said on Wednesday.
Specialised teams and relevant authorities were taking measures to prevent the pollution from reaching the beaches and to ensure public safety, Sharjah’s media office said in a statement.
