A teenage boy has died in a crash following a police pursuit.
The crash happened in south Bristol on the A37 Wells Road at its junction with Airport Road and Wootton Park just after 04:00 on Sunday.
Avon and Somerset Police said the crash involved a white Nissan Juke and a black Audi S3 being driven by members of the public. The force said it followed a short police pursuit involving an unmarked police vehicle and the white Nissan Juke.
A teenage boy, who was a passenger in the white Nissan Juke, died at the scene. Officers later arrested a 17-year-old boy at a residential property on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody.
Police said three other people were taken to hospital by ambulance with injuries not currently believed to be life-threatening.
Two were passengers from the same Nissan, also teenage children. The third person was the man driving the black Audi S3.
The force said the family of the boy who died are being supported by specially-trained officers.
Wells Road and the A4174 Callington Road were closed for collision investigation and vehicle recovery and reopened just after 16:00.
Avon and Somerset Police’s Professional Standards Unit was informed and a mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) as a death following police contact.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to contact police.
