Plymouth murder charge after body found in wheelie bin

A man has been charged with murder after a body was found partially within a wheelie bin, police have said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said Mohamed Abotaka, 36, of Grand Parade, Plymouth, was charged with the murder of 52-year-old Ali Barzai. The force said Abotaka was due to appear in court on Monday.

Police said Barzai’s body was found in a service lane off Grand Parade at about 06:40 BST on Wednesday.

Det Insp Chris Lithgow urged people not to speculate and said a heightened police presence would remain in the area in the coming days.
